The Battle for Rusty!

Rusty was originally a mascot that was presented to the Warrior football team in the fall of 1991. It was determined that Rusty would serve as a trophy for the winner of the yearly football game between Lutheran Westland and Lutheran Northwest. It has been a tradition that has been carried on annually since that very first game. Rusty stays with the winning school for the duration of the year, spending 15 years with Lutheran Westland and 15 years with Lutheran Northwest. In 2018, the Warriors brought Rusty home after 3 years. Last year we kept him since there wasn’t a game. The 2021 Battle for Rusty went the Warriors way as they defeated the Crusaders 26-7, which means Rusty will be able to remain in his rightful home for yet another year.

Go Warriors!
