2021 Senior Parade

The sidewalk of Cowan Road swarmed with smiling underclassmen, the summer day brightened with bubbles, uplifting posters, and the cheer of noisemakers. The graduating class of 2021 were soaking up their last few days as high schoolers at Lutheran Westland, and today, they were soaking up the sun in a parade. This send-off was one full of color.

Seniors decorated their cars—and motorcycles—with paint, balloons, and posters. “Finally done!” boasted the ride of Nicole Eden, Anna Myers, and Cori Thornton.

“We graduated!” said another.

Along with colorful cars, the underclassmen didn't fall short in supporting their seniors through posters.

“I loved the signs people made for us,” recalled Senior Shinaya Gotchev, and classmate Maddie March agreed. “I think the senior parade was a really good way to end our senior year,” she said.

Senior Paula Farmer enjoyed the send-off as well, but a different aspect stood out to her. “Honestly, my favorite part was doing circles around the parking lot afterward,” she laughed. “And Mitchell revving the engine.”

“The senior parade was great,” said senior Aaron Seta, who rode in a truck bed for the send-off. “My favorite and most memorable part was being able to sit back with friends and joke around.”

Friendship was the theme of the hour, as the front lawn of Lutheran Westland was full of cheering as the seniors rode by, a smile on everyone’s face.

“I would definitely recommend it for future years,” Aaron said.
