Warrior Wrestling 2021

Thrice as Nice!

The Warrior wrestling team has continued their success on the mat, winning their third district title in a row despite moving up to division 3 this past year. The wrestling season started with a bang going 2-1 at their first tournament but then had to take a 3-week hiatus due to Covid-19 protocols. The team did not let that slow them down still doing individual workouts to stay in shape during their downtime. There was no looking back as the Warriors started up again and went on to win their 2-team district matches by a combined 90 points. The following week they traveled to Richmond High School where they beat Notre Dame Prep by a score of 57-18, but later lost in the Regional Championship to perennial power Richmond. The Warriors sent 8 wrestlers to individual regionals advancing sophomore, Noah Etnyre (Plymouth Christian Academy), and freshman, Jeffrey McGuire (St. John, Waltz), to the State Meet with Noah just missing placing by 1 match. Things look very good for the wrestling team as they return 11 of their 14 starters next year and move back down to Division 4 with the plan to have a deep run in the State Tournament!
