Helping Each Student Plan for Their Future
From 9th-grade course selection to choosing a college or career, quality guidance during a student’s high school years is absolutely critical. Just like any quality high school, Lutheran Westland strives to help students in the areas of academic achievement and career consideration, but as a Christ-centered high school, we help our students develop socially, emotionally, and spiritually, ensuring today's Warriors become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.
We recently added the Naviance tool for the benefit of our community. Naviance, designed especially for students and parents, is a comprehensive website used to help students make decisions about courses, colleges, and careers. Students take personality, interest, strength, and talent inventories to learn more about themselves and discover careers that are a good match. They also take a Learning Style Inventory to help them identify how they best learn. Finally, students go through the College Match program, which guides students through finding colleges that are a good fit for them.

Technology can be a distraction in the classroom. At the same time, students need to be technologically prepared to thrive in the future. Real-World Skills in the Classroom
Industrial Arts offers students the chance to learn the skills needed to work with tools and machinery. Our program exposes students to the basics of home repair, manual craftsmanship, and machine safety. Our students get to design and discover solutions as they learn the challenges involved with working with materials and the challenges of small-scale project management. Juniors and Seniors at Lutheran Westland have the opportunity to explore 19 different vocational programs through the William Ford Vocational Center.
With state-of-the-art training equipment and machinery, industry-trained and state-certified instructors, and aggressive job placement, this program thoroughly equips students for a variety of career options after graduation.
Virtual Learning
Flexibility to Learn Online
By partnering with Oxford Virtual Academy, we’re able to offer various elective choices designed to fit the unique learning needs of students. Students can access coursework from anywhere, learn valuable time-management and digital skills, and earn credits in courses not offered on campus.

Dual Enrollment
EARN CREDITS BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL
Yes, Lutheran Westland students can earn college credit while still in high school! Dual enrollment allows our students to choose from classes not currently available on campus and provides them with a head start in college.
We work with Concordia University Ann Arbor and Schoolcraft College to help our students earn credits beyond high school. The State of Michigan is billed for the authorized amount of tuition and fees. Billing is limited to a maximum dollar amount, and students pay any costs above the limit. Approval of courses and billing authorization is required from Principal Micah Lorenzen and/or an LHSA representative.

Student Opportunities
When the School Day Ends, Learning Continues
At Lutheran Westland, Warriors have numerous opportunities to get involved. These activities allow them to explore interests and create broader perspectives. Students who participate in after-school activities report improved academic performance, more confidence, and higher academic aspirations. Through this involvement, students gain essential life skills: goal setting, teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and leadership.
